About Tairseach
Tairseach — the Irish word for threshold — began as The Race for Mental Health Collective and has grown into a social enterprise built for minoritised educators and mental health practitioners across Ireland. Tar isteach. Come in.
Our Mission. We harness the transformative power of liberatory, relational education to drive systemic equality across Ireland. As an educational support collective, we centre the strengths, lived wisdom, and wellbeing of minoritised educators and mental health professionals through mentorship, peer connection, and structural support — so that public institutions, schools, and health services are better equipped to build lasting, accountable frameworks of inclusion.
Five Strategic Aims
Tairseach's framework establishes five core strategic aims designed to transform Irish educational and mental health institutions through anti-oppressive practice, relational support, and systemic reform.
Valuing Lived Wisdom
We build safe, fairly compensated spaces where the lived experience of minoritised practitioners is recognised as expert knowledge — shifting the paradigm from majority practitioners "learning about" minoritised communities to learning directly from them.
Cultivating Cultural Humility
We equip clinicians, educators, and students with the ongoing practice of auditing their own social location, power, and privilege — moving past defensiveness toward authentic relationship across difference.
Seeing the Whole Picture
We challenge the habit of treating systemic prejudice as isolated incidents. Through Intra-vision, Inter-vision, and Supra-vision, we help institutions read burnout and microaggression as structural harm, not individual failing.
Sustaining the Village
We're building a trans-generational support network — connecting Modern Elders with practitioners, educators, and trainees — so that no one carries the work alone, and no one is isolated by class, disability, or status.
Growing Clinical Accomplices
We help majority-culture professionals move from passive, well-meaning bystanders into active Clinical Accomplices — equipped to challenge institutional bias and share the risk of lasting reform.
